Leading company in the field of die casting dies manufacturing for aluminum and magnesium, COMEST was founded in 1968 near Bologna by Mr. Tiziano Rossi and his daughter Mrs Milena Rossi, respectively President and CEO.

The company is specialized in the design and manufacturing of small-medium and large dies up to 60 tons, for die casting machines up to 6000 tons. The facility is extended over an area of 11.000 m2, with a fully equipped workshop that includes production, mounting and maintenance areas as well as technical, administration and sales departments.

Milena Rossi, daughter of Mr Rossi and CEO of the company, since 40 years manages Comest directing all the activities from financial to commercial, production, human resources and quality management with exceptional commitment, passion and precision.

Services

We offer to our clients a complete service that includes 2D/3D design, mold flow simulation, manufacturing and sampling of the die, per-point contact scanning and 3D GOM scanning, testing and corrections, after sales assistance and maintenance.

SPECIALIZATION

COMEST is specialized in die casting dies for the automotive sector from aluminum powertrain parts (engine blocks, gearboxes, clutch housings, cylinder blocks, cylinder covers, oil pans, automatic transmission cases), e-mobility components (battery panels, battery housing hybrid and fully electric, e-motor housing, inverter housings) and structural parts (support frames, front shock tower) from aluminum alloys to magnesium components (cross car beams and front end carriers).

MAINTENANCE

To improve our clients’ satisfaction we assist them with a full maintenance service in order to provide longer tooling life, through the supply of spare parts and the definition of customized maintenance programs based on our customers’ production sites.

The company has been enlarged with a new plant completely dedicated to molds maintenance.

TESTING OF THE DIE ON OUR DCM 2800 TON

COMEST is also equipped with a 2800 ton DCM with water thermoregulation units and vacuum system for testing the dies, providing a pre-series sampling service of great importance in case of new projects. Furthermore, thanks to our special overhead travelling cranes, we can handle weights up to 60 tons.

Leading company in the field of die casting dies manufacturing for aluminum and magnesium, COMEST was founded in 1968 near Bologna by Mr. Tiziano Rossi. 

The company is specialized in the design and manufacturing of small-medium and large dies up to 60 tons, for die casting machines up to 4400 tons. 

The facility is extended over an area of 8.700 m2, with a fully equipped workshop as well as technical, administration and sales departments.

Origins

Born in 1939, Mr Tiziano Rossi begins his career in the early ‘60s, after terminating his studies at the famous Aldini Valeriani Technical Institute in Bologna, whose scholars created many world-leading enterprises in the region.
The journey began in a company manufacturing die casting and plastic injection moulds, where Mr Tiziano Rossi was able to follow his passion for the mechanical world, soon becoming chief production supervisor.

First stone

In 1968 Mr Rossi decides to set up his own business, creating COMEST, which stands for Costruzione Meccanica Stampi (Mechanical Die Casting Dies Manufacturing).
Together with a few expert collaborators, he works night and day to lay the basis of the new-born company.
Mr Rossi and his team, working with strong commitment and determination, will be able to build and equip a new workshop of around 4000 m2, hiring more and more workers.
New orders will rise and the number of machines grow.

Expansion

In 1986 Comest moves to a new location in Sala Bolognese (in the outskirts Bologna), with a 6500 m2 workshop. Thanks to constant investments in new machinery, the company grows from 25 to 50 production units.

Die casting machine acquisition

A Die Casting Machine 2800 ton for testing the dies is acquired and the Company specializes more and more on medium and big-size dies, providing 3D engineering, sampling, dimensional control, high speed machining through state-of-the-art technologies.

Second Plant

In 1993 a second facility of 2200 m2 is built, hosting new working stations. The company strategy focuses more and more on cutting-edge technologies. Constant investments enable to reach full control over all production phases guaranteeing at one time top quality manufacturing and best lead times.

SPECIALIZATION-
Full service from production to start up

In 2003 Comest becomes one of the few die casting dies manufacturer in the world capable of providing its customers with the complete realization of die casting dies in-house, from die holders machining to full die manufacturing, final sampling and dimensional control, thanks to a workshop equipped with the most advanced machinery.

Continous investments

Only between 2014 - 2015 the following machinery is acquired: MILLUTENSIL spotting press; customized extra-large milling and deep drilling machine with load capacity of 60.000 Kg; Vacuum Fondarex System; GOM – 3D Scanning system; ProCAST metal filling simulation software.

Growth on international markets

Long-term experience and full service at any stage of project development contribute to guarantee our customers' satisfaction and the company constant growth, with an average production rate of 50 medium-large dies per year.

Mold assembly Department

The mold assembly Department is expanded and equipped with new 25 tons additional lift bridge wagon, added to the already existing 32 and 16 tons. In the manufacturing department are installed new milling machines for big bolsters and inserts machining.

Maintenance expansion

Comest expands its workshop by connecting two existing buildings so as to obtain a total surface area of ​​11,000m2, creating an area dedicated to the assembly and maintenance program of large moulds, equipped with overhead cranes for lifting up to 60tons. The work was completed in 2021.

We use solar energy

A quarter of our energy needs are generated by our photovoltaic system located on the company roof.
